AHO! Greetings and welcome to our hocoka (camp circle).
All things are mitakuye (related).
Ikce Wicasa Cante (the heart of the people) are our spirits,
our elders, our children and the land...these are our treasures.
In society today there is much disrespect for our treasures.
The land, wildlife, family life and our spirits all suffer due to greed and selfishness.
We do not own the treasures, we are here to be caretakers
for future generations.
Lakol Wicohan (the Indian Way) is to leave everything better than we found it.
To hold and nuture as we, in turn, are held and nutured.
AKITA MANI YO (observe everything as you walk),
it is the only way for us to repair the damage that has been done.
Pay attention, and act .. for to ignore the problems,
is to destroy not only ourselves, but the future of Mother Earth.
As you wander through our camp, listen to the spirit within and around you.
PILAMAYA ALOH, WOLAKOTA MANI EL
(thank you very much, walk in peace and friendship)
WIYAKA YAMNI (ThreeFeathers) and HEHAKA SKA (White Elk)
